Some unidentified assailants killed a youth by stabbing him while he was browsing a shop in the city’s Tikatuli area on Friday evening.
The deceased was one Nepal Dash, 24, son of Gopal Dash, who resided in Tikatuli under the capital’s Wari police station.
Eyewitnesses and police said four-to- five armed assailants entered the BKD refrigerator shop in Tikatuli at around 4:30pm and left the shop within ten minutes leaving Nepal critically injured.
Nepal was rushed to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) by another shop staff where doctors declared him dead on arrival.
Rajib, the rescuer and a staff member of another shop, told the Dhaka Tribune that the assailants suddenly came into that shop and stabbed Nepal, leaving him severely injured.
When contacted, Tapan Chandra Saha, officer-in-charge of Wari police station, told the Dhaka Tribune that, on information, a team rushed to the spot and sent Nepal’s body to DMC morgue for autopsy.
We have started our investigation into the issue, interrogating the shop owners and relatives of Nepal for information; he said adding that police are primarily suspecting that the killing is connected to some previous matter.
No one was arrested and no case was filed with the police station till filing this report on Friday evening.
