Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) arrested 498 people and filed 47 cases during raids across the capital in the past 24 hours, police said on Friday.
Among those arrested, 36 were from the Ramna division, 31 from Lalbagh, 91 from Wari, 48 from Motijheel, 51 from Tejgaon, 131 from Mirpur, 45 from Gulshan, 59 from Uttara, while Detective Branch arrested four and Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crime (CTTC) unit nabbed two.
DMP Additional Deputy Commissioner (Media) Niaz Mehedi said police also recovered two locally made pipe guns, two rounds of ammunition, 39 rounds of Chinese rifle bullets, 10,287 yaba pills, 1.15kg of cannabis, 70 bottles of Skaf syrup and other items during the raids.
The seized items also included a knife, scissors, a blade fragment, five mobile phones, Tk4,99,870 in cash, a wristwatch, 156 playing cards, a truck, a motorcycle and a CPU.
