An actress, Asma Zhilik (35), died after falling from the eighth floor of a hospital in Dhanmondi, Dhaka, with police later arresting her husband, Saifullah, following allegations of foul play raised by her family.
Zhilik died on Friday (June 12) afternoon after falling from the eighth floor of Bangladesh Medical College Hospital in Dhanmondi. Her family alleges that she was pushed to her death amid a domestic dispute.
Following the incident, the victim’s younger brother, Mozammel Haque, filed a case at Dhanmondi Police Station.
Police later arrested Saifullah in connection with the case and sent him to jail through court proceedings, Assistant Commissioner (AC) Saddam Hossain of the Dhanmondi Zone of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP), told the media.
“As a case has been filed by the victim’s family, her husband has been arrested. He has been sent to jail through the court. However, whether Asma Zhilik was murdered or died after falling accidentally will be determined after investigation. The body has been autopsied. The exact cause of death will be known after the autopsy report arrives,” he told The Business Standard.
The deceased, Asma Zhilik, was active in drama and film acting. She also acted in the Dhallywood film Rongbaz alongside actor Shakib Khan.
