A satellite dish trader was shot dead at the Mill gate area in Tongi on Saturday.
The deceased was identified as Shahadat Hossain Rony, 26, son of Mujibur Rahman, hailing from Baraikhali village of Shreenagar upazila under the Munshiganjdistrict.
Shahadat used to live in a rented house at the Namar Bazar area in Tongi.
According to his family, Rony was returning home via rickshaw with a man who worked under him at his business on Saturday night.
As soon as they reached the Namar Bazar area, adjacent to his house, some miscreants shot him and fled the scene.
Rony was shot in the chest and died on spot.
Police inspector Aminul Islam of the Tongi police station confirmed the incident.
On information, police recovered the body and sent it to Gazipur Sadar Hospital morgue for a post mortem examination on Sunday.
Police suspect that the incident took place over previous enmity regarding dish trading.
Shahanaj Begum, Roni’s mother filed a murder case accusing unidentified miscreants with the Tongi police station in this connection.
