Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Asaduzzaman Khan has directed the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) commissioner to submit an investigation report within a week over the rape and murder of seven-year-old child in the capital’s Pallabi area.
The information was disclosed in a ministry press release on Thursday.
According to the release, the minister also said necessary steps would be taken to ensure a speedy trial in the case.
Earlier on Tuesday morning, police recovered the headless body of the child, daughter of Abdul Hannan Molla and Parvin Begum, from beneath a bed in a neighbour’s flat in Pallabi. Later, her severed head was recovered from a bathroom.
Police later arrested the accused Sohel Rana in front of the Fatullah Police Station.
During interrogation, Sohel reportedly confessed to the crime, police said.
