'Necessary legal steps have already been taken in this connection,' the ISPR mentioned

The defense ministry warned people against a fraud ring that is issuing fake legal notices using the ministry’s name to harass people and extort money on Tuesday.

In a statement, the ministry said the fraudsters are sending false and fabricated legal notices to people in different districts of the country, accusing them of involvement in criminal activities and threatening them with imprisonment, fines, and other punishments, said the release of the Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR) Directorate this evening.

It said the ministry clarified that there is no department, branch, or cell named “Law Control Department” or “Crime Unit Cell” under the Ministry of Defense, and the ministry does not conduct such activities at all.

"Necessary legal steps have already been taken in this connection," the ISPR mentioned.

The ministry urged all concerned not to be misled by such fraudulent activities and to refrain from making any financial transactions with the fraudsters, it added.
