A Dhaka court on Saturday sent singer Arfin Rumey and his brother Yasin Rony to jail rejecting their bail plea in a case filed by Rumey’s first wife Ananya.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Atiqur Rahman passed the order after hearing arguments from both the defendants and the prosecution.
Rumey and his brother were produced before the court in the afternoon.
Police arrested Rumey in the morning based on a complaint lodged by Ananya with Mohammadpur police station the previous night.
In the case, Ananya alleged that Rumey had often tortured her for dowry. Rumey intensified torture after his second marriage.
Rumey is a member of the band Durbin and a solo performer as well.
