Update : 22 Mar 2026, 08:09 PM

RAB-10 successfully rescued a two-year-old boy, Kazi Fuzail, who was kidnapped from Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) on Saturday, Eid-ul-Fitr day.

The main abductor, identified as MM Tanvir, 35, was also arrested from Dhalpur area of Jatrabari late Saturday night.

According to family and law enforcement sources, little Fuzail had gone to DMCH on Saturday afternoon (March 21) with his mother and aunt to visit his ailing maternal grandfather.

Around 2:58 PM, the child went missing from the hospital premises. Shortly after, at 4:00 PM, the child's father, Mazharul Islam, received a phone call from an unknown number demanding a ransom of Tk3.5 lakh.

The kidnappers later pressured the family to pay an advance of Tk50,000 by nightfall.

Following the incident, the father filed a case with Shahbagh Police Station, prompting RAB-10 to launch a shadow investigation.

Acting on intelligence, a specialized team of RAB-10 conducted a raid in Jatrabari, where they found Fuzail safe and apprehended Tanvir.

During primary interrogation, Tanvir—originally from the Dashmina area of Patuakhali—confessed to pre-planning the abduction. He admitted to using toys and chocolates to pacify the child when he cried for his mother.

RAB-10 acting company commander Senior ASP SM Hasan Siddiqui confirmed that the rescued child has been reunited with his family, and the arrestee has been handed over to the police for further legal proceedings.
