Law enforcement agencies arrested three suspected criminals, including a wanted "top-tier" offender, in separate drives across the capital's Mohammadpur and Khilgaon areas.
Two pistols, ammunition, and a private car were recovered during these operations.
In Mohammadpur, RAB-2 apprehended a notorious criminal identified as Rubel, alias "Dagi Rubel" (27), on Saturday night.
Acting on a tip-off about armed individuals gathering at Babar Road area, a RAB team conducted a raid and caught Rubel with a locally made pistol.
According to RAB-2 senior assistant director (media) Md. Shamsul Islam, Rubel has at least five pending cases involving drugs and terrorism with Mohammadpur Police Station.
He is known for leading criminal activities, including weapon and drug trade, in Mohammadpur and surrounding neighborhoods.
In a separate operation early Sunday morning, Khilgaon Police arrested two more suspects, identified as Md Shafaet Hossain alias Sentu (44) and Md Sabuj alias Emon (25).
The duo was intercepted in the Shekher Jayga area while they were positioned inside a private car.
Upon searching the vehicle, police recovered a foreign-made pistol, four rounds of ammunition, and a magazine.
Khilgaon Police sources stated that the arrestees are active members of an organized crime syndicate and had gathered in the area to commit a mugging.
Shafaet faces four prior charges involving murder, weapons, and drugs, while Sabuj has two cases of robbery and theft filed against him.
All three suspects have been sent to court following the filing of regular cases under the Arms Act at their respective police stations.
