Update : 02 Oct 2013, 05:11 AM

Two men were murdered in two separate incidents in Mymensingh and Tangail yesterday, according to reports by Dhaka Tribune correspondents.

Police recovered the body of a grocer from Baliagara in Bhaluka uapzila of Mymensingh yesterday morning.

Quoting family sources, police said the victim, Jong Bahadur alias Sandesh Ali, 50, used to run a grocery shop at Dula Bazar near his house in Hizlipara village. When he did not return home on Monday night, his family members searched for him, but failed to find him.

Yesterday morning, some local people found Sandesh Ali’s bloodied body beside a road at Baliagara and informed police.

Police recovered the body and sent it to the morgue at Mymensingh Medical College Hospital for autopsy, said Abdul Motalab Miah, officer-in-charge of Bhaluka police station.

Police filed a murder case, but were yet to ascertain the motive or persons behind the killing, Motalab said.

In another incident, the body of a weaver was found at Dhulutia Moddho Para mosque at Tangail Sadar upazila early yesterday morning. The victim was identified as Aminur Rahman, 30, of Baz Gram village under Hatibandha upazila in Lalmonirhat district.

The victim’s elder brother, Habibur Rahman, said Aminur had been working with a handloom, owned by a local man, at Dhulutia for the past five years.  Aminur used to pray five times a day at the mosque and would often spend the night there.  “As far I know, he did not have any enemies in the area. He was a very pious man,” Habibur said.

Md Nazrul Islam, officer-in-charge of Sadar police station, said when an imam entered the mosque early yesterday for the Fazr prayer, he saw Aminur’s bloodied body and started shouting. Hearing the imam’s cries, locals rushed to the spot and informed police. Police recovered the body and sent it to the Tangail General Hospital morgue for autopsy.
