The International Crimes Tribunal (ICT) has ordered that the investigation into the crimes against humanity case related to the killing of Begum Rokeya University student Abu Sayed in Rangpur, which was centered around the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement, be completed within one month.

The ICT, led by Chairman Justice Md Golam Mortuza Mozumder, issued the order on Sunday, reports Bangla Tribune.

The investigation report for the case is to be submitted to the court by July 14.

Prosecutor SM Moinul Karim conducted the hearing on behalf of the prosecution at the tribunal.

Later, he said the investigation into the Abu Sayed murder case is nearly complete, and they hope to finish the investigation within two weeks.

Earlier in the morning, four accused individuals in the crimes against humanity case related to Abu Sayed’s murder were presented before the ICT.

Former SI Amir Hossain, Constable Sujan Chandra Roy, former proctor of Begum Rokeya University Shariful Islam, and Chhatra League leader Imran Chowdhury Akash were brought before the tribunal in a prison van.

On April 9, the tribunal ordered the appearance of these four individuals in the case of Abu Sayed’s killing during the July uprising in Rangpur.

At the same time, the tribunal directed that the investigation report be submitted by June 15.

On March 2, the tribunal had directed police to produce the four accused before the court on April 9.

Abu Sayed, a 12th-batch student of Begum Rokeya University's English Department, was killed during the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement on the afternoon of July 16—thus becoming the first student killed in police firing during the July uprising.
