A drug peddler was snatched by his associates from the hands of law enforcers in Gouranadi of Barisal Saturday evening. The detainee was Rubel Hossain, 20, son of Ismail Hossain of Uttar Bijoypur area.
Inspector Raihan Ahmed Khan, Sub-Inspector Enamul Huq, Assistant Sub-Inspector Navaranjan Bhadra, and constables Abdus Salam Moral and Hazrat Ali of Narcotics Control Department of Gouranadi circle were injured during the incident. They were treated at local upazila health complex.
Police nabbed one of the attackers Razzak Bepari. However, Rubel could not be rearrested.
Inspector Raihan said the anti-narcotics team under his leadership started operation in the area around 3pm after informing Gouranadi police station. After watching and chasing, they succeeded to arrest Rubel when he entered his house in the evening.
