Update : 14 Sep 2013, 09:50 AM

A former student of the Dhaka University was found dead in his office at Ananadabazar of the capital on Saturday.

The hanging body of Abul Bashar, 26, was discovered first by his brother-in-law around noon at the office of Knit Knot Garments, of which Bashar was a co-owner, said DU acting proctor Amzad Ali.

University authorities and law enforcers later recovered the body hanging from a ceiling fan. The reason of the death could not be known immediately.

Bashar, a student of statistics of 2005-2006 batch, was a resident at the Amar Ekushey Hall. Hailing from Jhenidah, he had worked as a staff reporter for the Daily Sangbad, but left the job two years back.

His body was taken to Dhaka Medical College and Hospital (DMCH) for an autopsy.

Talking to the Dhaka Tribune his classmates and teachers said, Bashar passed his honours but did not get admitted for masters. He stayed at room no 403.
