Former Director General (DG) of the Special Security Force (SSF), Lieutenant General (Retd) Md Mujibur Rahman, and his wife own vast illegal properties, according to Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC).

The ACC has filed a court petition to confiscate two flats in Dhaka, 11 plots, and the house in Savar under Tasrin Mujib’s name. It has also sought to freeze their 15 bank accounts.

ACC Deputy Director Mohammad Sirajul Haque submitted the petition to the court last Monday, requesting the seizure of their immovable assets and the blocking of their financial transactions.

Additionally, the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has discovered another flat in the Cantonment area, a house in Purbachal, and land with a tin-shed house in Savar.

The ACC investigation revealed that Mujibur Rahman and his wife, Tasrin Mujib, not only possess these immovable assets but have also conducted significant financial transactions across 15 bank accounts.

Since the fall of Sheikh Hasina’s government on August 5 last year, Mujibur Rahman has reportedly gone into hiding. ACC sources indicate that he abused his power in various key government positions to amass illegal wealth in the names of his family members.

Large sums of money from corruption and bribery were deposited and withdrawn from the bank accounts of Mujibur and his wife.

Mujibur Rahman served as the director general of SSF until the fall of Sheikh Hasina’s government. He was then ordered to be transferred from his role as the general officer commanding (GOC) of the Army Training and Doctrine Command in Mymensingh.

Later, on September 12, he was dismissed from service. Before this, he had served as the quartermaster general at the Army Headquarters and had also held key positions as additional director general of the Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) and the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB).

According to ACC sources, Mujibur Rahman and his wife, Tasrin Mujib, own multiple plots in Dhaka. Seven of these plots are registered under Tasrin Mujib’s name, located in the Baunia Mouza area of Dhaka Cantonment.

The largest plot under her name measures 7.5 katha, with a documented value of Tk98.25 lakh. Additionally, she owns a flat in the Joar Sahara area of Dhaka Cantonment.

Mujibur Rahman owns a 4,050-square-foot flat in the Matikata area of Mirpur, which he declared to be worth Tk1.8 crore. He also holds three plots in Mirpur’s Matikata, Cantonment, and Khilkhet areas.

His largest plot, measuring 7.5 katha, is in Khilkhet. Beyond these, he owns another plot and a house in Purbachal and a 5-decimal land with a tin-shed house in Savar.
