A 12-year-old girl died at Dhaka Medical College Hospital on Tuesday after she was raped by the boyfriend of her sister-in-law the night before.
Brother of the victim Solaiman Khan said his wife Brishti doped his sister Kohinur Akhter after she saw Brishti doing illicit things with her boyfriend Nazmul. Later Nazmul raped her. Police constable Solaiman was out on duty that night.
Doctors declared Kohinur dead at the One Stop Crisis Centre of the DMCH.
After the incident, Solaiman beat up her wife Brishti Akter. She has been admitted to the DMCH too.
Kohinur came to visit her brother’s residence at Boro Bottola, Nandipara in the capital’s Khilgaon around a month back from Comilla.
Police said Brishti continued extramarital relation with Nazmul. He used to come to their residence when Solaiman was out of home.
On Monday night, when Nazmul came to the house to meet Brishti, Kohinur caught them red-handed. Brishti then gave her a glass of milk mixed with sedatives. After Kohinur fell asleep, Nazmul raped her.
In the morning, when Solaiman came home he saw his sister bleeding and rushed her to the hospital.
Doctors said they first admitted the victim to the OCC but they could not conduct a surgery as her physical condition was deteriorating because of poisoning. The doctors later referred her to the medicine department.
But the physicians at the medicine department could not wash her stomach due to vulnerable physical condition. Kohinur died around 5:30pm.
Later, high officials of police visited the hospital. Mehedi Hassan, additional deputy commissioner (ADC) of Motijheel division, told reporters that they were looking for Nazmul.
“Brishti is receiving treatment under police custody. We will show her arrested in a case which will be filed in this connection,” he said.
