A stalker allegedly tortured a college girl physically at Shahtala area under Moheshpur upazila, Jhenaidah Sunday.
However, the police failed to nab the criminal although he was accused in a case with a local court for his alleged involvement of stalking the girl for last few months.
Shahjahan Ali, father of the victim, said Jewel, 19, son of Abdul Jabbar of Goalhuda village of the upazila had been disturbing his daughter during her college hours.
He had filed a case with a Jhenaidah court seeking justice, he said and alleged that as the police was not active to arrest the criminal, he was encouraged to disturb his daughter.
Locals said Jewel stopped the girl Sunday, when she was going to her college around 9am, and started abusing her.
He also tortured the girl physically, they added.
Hearing the hue and cry of the victim, locals rushed to the scene, but the culprit managed to flee.
When contacted, Moheshpur police station Officer-in-Charge Akram Hossain said he would take legal steps if any written complaint was received.
Meanwhile, Moheshpur Upazila Nirbahi Officer Nasima Begum said the authorities would take steps in this regard.
