Rana Plaza Disaster 261 ‘actual missing’: Army

Update : 02 Sep 2013, 06:23 PM

Army has handed over a list of 261 ‘actual missing’ victims of the Rana Plaza collapse incident recently after verifying a list of 329 missing victims.

A press note from ISPR said the list of 261 workers had been handed over to prime minister’s office for further action. The building collapse on April 24, claimed 1,133 lives, orphaned some 200 children.

Though, the family members of the victims got some compensation and aid from the government and NGOs, missing people’s families did not get any help as the missing list was not prepared.

To fix compensation packages for the missing victims, dead and injured workers, the High Court issued a suo moto rule on May 6 and asked to form a committee in this regard.

Later, the Ninth Infantry Division formed a committee and requested to extend the report submission date.

The Ninth Division sat on a meeting with the committee members government high officials, doctors and experts, and formed two sub committees. The sub-committees will submit the final report within September 20.

After the report was submitted to the committee, the mother committee would sit to fix the compensation, the press statement said.
