Police have recovered the body of an unidentified man from the Indian border area along the banks of the Mahananda River in Tetulia, Panchagarh.
The body was found on Tuesday afternoon in the Banglabandha union, with the help of local residents. The identity of the deceased, however, could not be immediately known.
News of the body being discovered by the river attracted a crowd of curious onlookers to the scene.
Tetulia Model police station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Arman Ali said that a group of stone masons heading to the Mahananda River to extract stones, noticed a lot of blood near the riverbank. Upon closer look, they saw a hand protruding from the sand.
They promptly informed the local Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) camp.
Upon receiving the information through BGB, police from Tetulia Model police station rushed to the scene.
Police sources further revealed that a team from the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) had arrived at the site from Thakurgaon to assist in identifying the body.
