‘Sarbahara’ member beaten to death

A person who allegedly was a member of banned extremist political party ‘Sharbahara’ beaten to death in Pabna Sunday.

Police said the dead Md Abdul Aziz, 35, was an activist of a faction of Sharbahara.

SM Faruk Hossain, officer-in-charge of Faridpur police station, said: “Aziz was one of the most wanted criminal”, and he was accused of many cases including murder.

Aziz was absconded from his village Hadal at Faridpur upazila of the district for a long time. But Sunday villagers cordoned his house after he was returning his home on the morning, and beat him severely around 10am, he added.

Locals rushed him to the Pabna Medical College Hospital (PMCH) where doctors declared him dead.

Police sent the body to PMCH morgue for post mortem.

Meanwhile, police recovered the body of a young man from the Meghna River in Raipura upazila Sunday, two days after he was reported missing in a boat accident.

The victim, identified as Saddam Hossain, 25, of Kawriapara village, was the manager of Janapriya battery shop in Narsingdi bus station.
