Police Saturday recovered the body of a man from Chittagong city’s Tankir Pahar area.
The deceased was Abir, 28, of Chandina, Comilla. Abir was a dishwasher in a community centre in the city’s Patharghata area, family sources said.
After receiving information from locals, a team from Khulshi police station recovered the body from the side of a road in the Tankir Pahar area around 10:30am, said Md Solaiman, sub-inspector (SI) of Khulshi police station.
Police said the body had some injury marks on the back, suggesting that the victim was beaten to death.
Police have not yet identified a motive for the killing, said SI Solaiman. Police are investigating the matter, he added.
Md Kabir, the elder brother of the victim, said Abir had no conflict with anyone.
The victim’s body was sent to the Chittagong Medical College Hospital morgue for post mortem and a case was lodged with Khulshi police station.
