A team of Rab-11 seized huge quantity of Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) equipment and around 8,000 mobile sim cards worth around Tk1m from Ujir Dighirpar area of Comilla city.
Two VoIP businessman were detained in this connection, according to banglanews24. The detainees are Abbas, 28, and Ashiqur Rahman Mostaq, 42.
Rab men seized eight VoIP machines, three desktop computers, one laptop computer, four mobile phones and around 8,000 sim cards of different operators from their possessions.
Acting on a tip-off, Rab 11, led by Major Md Shahed Hassan, conducted a raid in a rented house on Friday.
Major Hassan said: “Around 9pm we raided the house and seized all equipment from their possession.” They had been running the illegal business for a long time, he added.
Abbas, one of the detainees, said: “We came to Ujir Dighirpar area and rented a house to run the business secretly.”
