An expatriate was shot to death by an assailant in city’s Mugda area on Saturday night.
The deceased was identified as Md Sabbir, 22.
Witnesses said an unidentified assailant riding a motorbike opened fire on Sabbir at about 8:30pm while he was talking to his friends in front of Notre Dame College, leaving him injured.
Sabbir was taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital where on-duty doctors declared him dead around 9pm.
DMCH police outpost In-charge Mojammel Haque confirmed the matter to the Dhaka Tribune.
Victim’s mother Shamsunnahar said: “Sabbir’s friends Jewel and Tonu called him out of house over cellphone.”
She claimed that Jewel might have killed Sabbir as the victim borrowed money from him.
