Woman files sexual harassment complaint against Supreme Court lawyer

An applicant of Bar Council Advocateship exam has filed charges of sexual harassment against her tutor, Advocate Sheikh Mohammad Azad, on Wednesday with Paltan police station. Inspector (Operation) Abu Siddique has confirmed the matter to the Dhaka Tribune and said that they are yet to arrest Azad. According to police, after finishing her LLM exam, the complainant joined a coaching centre at Bijoynagar area for the Bar Council Advocateship exam preparision. The accused is a law tutor at the coaching centre. On Tuesday evening, there was a farewell party held at the coaching centre in honour of the candidates. When the party came to an end, the woman wanted to say goodbye to her teacher but she was asked to wait. When all the other students had left the premises, the teacher called her to his office and gave her advice regarding the exam. In the middle their conversation, the teacher left the room abruptly. As the woman was getting late, she decided to leave when the teacher appeared at the door and caught her off-guard. He allegedly hugged and touched her inappropriately. She struggled and finally ran out of his office. Later, she filed a complaint with the police station on Wednesday. When this correspondent called the accused, he denied the allegation.
