Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has arrested former Deputy Sports Minister Arif Khan Joy from Dhanmondi area in the capital.
DMP sources confirmed the matter on Monday night.
He was arrested in a murder case filed with Mohammadpur police station.
He will be produced before to the court on Tuesday with a remand prayer.
Arif Khan Joy was elected Member of Parliament for three consecutive terms from Netrokona-2 constituency. In the last national election, he was elected as a member of parliament wearing the eagle symbol.
He was a professional football player. He played as a midfielder for Dhaka Abahani and the Bangladesh national team. He served as Deputy Minister of Youth and Sports Ministry of Bangladesh from 2014 to 2018. He has success in football.
