Update : 20 Jul 2017, 04:38 PM
A Belizean construction worker was remanded at Belize Central Prison on Wednesday, in connection with the murder of a Bangladeshi businessman. Senior Magistrate Sharon Fraser ordered police to remand 23-year-old Juan Roberto Choc over the murder. Bangladeshi businessman Abdus Salam, 29, had been living in Belize for over four years and was found dead in his bed on July 1. Salam was naked and lying face down, with his hands tied behind his back, when the Criminal Investigation Branch of Belizean police recovered his body. The motive behind the killing is yet to be discovered. A post-mortem examination of Salam’s body confirmed that he had died from manual strangulation.
