Bangla Academy librarian testifies against Mueen-Ashraf

A prosecution witness Thursday testified against war crimes accused fugitive Chowdhury Mueen Uddin and Md Ashrafuzzaman Khan at the International Crimes Tribunal 2.

Bangla Academy Assistant Librarian Md Ezabuddin Mia, the 19th prosecution witness, said: “Investigation Officer Ataur Rahman on May 15 last year seized 127 copies of daily newspapers published in 1971 and 1972.”

Ataur scanned the necessary news items needed for investigation against. Those were published in different Bangla and English newspapers including the Daily Observer, the daily Pakistan, the daily Purbadesh, the Azad and the Sangram, the witness said.

Forty-year-old Ezabuddin also submitted in the tribunal that on October 24, 2011, another investigator Md Abdur Razzaq Khan had seized two copies of the daily Sangram and the Ittefaq published in 1971.

He mentioned about some news items carrying documents on the killings and conspiracy during the war.

Ezabuddin also produced main copies of all these newspapers at the tribunal of Justice Mozibur Rahman Miah and Justice Shahinur Islam.

Later, state defence counsels Salma Hye and Abdus Shukkur Khan cross examined him.

The tribunal set September 1 for further procedure of the case.
