A gang of muggers took away Tk3m from a businessman on Sunday evening from the capital's Paribagh while earlier in the afternoon Rab personnel arrested a gang of six alleged muggers from Tikatuli with firearms and explosives in their possession.
In Paribagh, a group of four to five criminals took away the money from businessman Mozammel Haque around 6pm at gunpoint.
"The criminals intercepted the businessman soon after he drew the amount from a bank," said Sirajul Islam, officer-in-charge (OC) of Shahbagh police station.
The businessman was on the way to his garment factory for disbursing the salaries of his employees.
The victim suspects that his driver Azizul Huq was involved in the mugging incident and he might be a member of the gang. After the incident, police detained the driver and took him to the Shahbagh police station.
Asked the OC said they were looking into the matter and interrogating the driver to know about whether he had involvement in the mugging.
