An expatriate was killed, allegedly by robbers, within hours of his return from abroad, and his looted valuables from his house at Bahura village in Nangalkot upazila early Thursday, reports UNB.
The deceased was identified as Tazul Islam, 50, an expat living in Oman.
Locals said a gang of robbers had stormed into Tazul’s house around 1:45am; hours after his return from Oman.
The bandits took the residents of the house hostage and looted cash, gold ornaments and other valuables.
As Tazul tried to resist, the robbers got into a scuffle with him and at one stage, stabbed him and slit his throat, killing him.
Police suspected that previous enmity could have been a motive behind the murder.
