Man on the run for 21yrs to avoid 6-month prison sentence arrested

  • Travelling places under guise of another man
  • Six cases against him

A man who had remained absconding for 21 years to avoid a six-month jail sentence was arrested at Manikchari upazila near Ramgarh Thursday night.

The arrestee is Yasin alias Don Yasin, of Darogapara (Mahamuni) area of Ramgarh municipality. He was sentenced in six cases at Ramgarh in Khagrachari.

Sub Inspector Shamsul Amin of Ramgarh police station said: “On information, the accused was arrested from the in-laws' home of the accused's elder daughter in Manikchari upazila, near Ramgarh, at 9pm on Thursday.”

The SI said that there are six cases against Yasin in Ramgarh and Bhujpur police stations. Out of these, he was convicted in two cases and warranted in four.

He said that to avoid punishment and arrest, Yasin had been traveling in Chittagong city and Manikchari area under the guise of Jamal Hossain for a long time. The accused will be sent to court after the legal proceeding.
