Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Additional Commissioner (Crime and Operations) Mahid Uddin said the Benapole Express train fire was a planned attack.
“We cannot say for sure who carried out the arson attack but it is sabotage for sure,” he said while talking to the journalists in the capital’s Gopibagh at around 11:30pm.
The official added that those who carried out the attack will be brought under the law. “Such behaviour towards common people, children and women are inhumane.”
He added the people who committed the crime might have disguised themselves as passengers.
Regarding the information about the foreign passengers, he said that railway police can inform about this.
Miscreants set ablaze Benapole Express in Dhaka’s Gopibagh at around 9:05pm on Friday.
At least five compartments of the train burned down in this arson incident.
At least four people have died in the incident.
