Dhaka Metropolitan Police’s Detective Branch (DB) chief Additional Commissioner Harun-or-Rashid on Thursday said that DB had received a list of attackers in connection with the fire incident on Dhaka-bound passenger train Mohanganj Express.

“DB is working to quickly bring those involved to justice,” said the DB chief.

He gave this information in response to a question from journalists at his office on Minto Road in the capital.

Harun said that DB always conducts a shadow investigation after any incident. Four innocent people including a mother and her child met tragic death due to the arson attack. Those who have done this work, they have been carrying out subversive activities since October 28 in an attempt to foil the upcoming national election and to create panic among general people.

“They were setting fire to buses in isolated places. We have arrested several people. They have given confessional statements under section 164 in the court. Now they have started setting fire to trains,” said the DB chief.

Setting fire to the train is not a part of political activity. It is a form of terrorism. Those who set fire to the train compartment will not get exemption, warned Harun.

“DB Police along with law enforcement is working. Already we have got many names, we hope that they will be arrested soon,” he added further.

Harun requested the common people to provide the names and numbers of those who want to carry out sabotage.

“We will definitely bring them under the law,” he added.

Stating that CCTV footage has been collected, he said the footage is being analyzed. The details will be informed after arrest.
