Six buses were set on fire by unidentified miscreants in different areas of the city on Wednesday, on the first day of the 48-hour blockade called by BNP and like-minded parties.
Miscreants set fire on a staff bus (BRTC) of Agrani Bank in Taltala area of Khilgaon in the morning.
Besides, three parked buses of “Ekushey Express Paribahan” were set ablaze in Maniknagar intersection of the capital on Wednesday afternoon.
Miscreants set fire to another bus of “Boishakhi Paribahan” at Progati Sarani in Dhaka’s North Badda in the evening.
The bus was set on fire at 7:58pm.
Unidentified miscreants also set fire to a bus in Dhaka's Matuail area at night.
Fire stations of the concerned areas doused the fire.
No casualty was reported in these incidents.
The opposition BNP has announced another 48-hour blockade starting Wednesday morning as the party and its allies enforce a nationwide blockade set to end early Tuesday.
The tenth phase of the blockade started at 6am on Wednesday and will continue till Friday 6am.
