A Chittagong University student’s death is currently shrouded in mystery after her body was found in her residence on Sunday.
The deceased Tarfiya Tarannum, 21, was the daughter of Manjurur Rahman, hailing from Masjid Par area at East Madarbari in Chittagong. She was a first year student for the Department of Law.
Quoting family members, Officer-in-Charge of Shadarghat police station Pranab Kumar Chowdhury said Tarfiya’s family claimed that their daughter had committed ‘suicide’ earlier on Sunday over a family dispute. She was reportedly rushed to a private hospital where the on duty doctors declared her dead.
Tarfiya’s family members later moved her body to their residence.
On information, a team of policemen recovered the body from her residence and sent it to Chittagong Medical College Hospital morgue for autopsy. The OC said they could not find any evidence of suicide on the body.
Police are hoping that Tarfiya’s cause of death will become clearer after they receive the autopsy report.
