Cricket superstar Shakib Al Hasan found himself in an unexpected predicament on Monday after losing his mobile phone near Ganabhaban on the very day he received the Awami League's nomination for the Magura-1 seat in the upcoming national elections.

Following this incident, he filed a general diary (GD) at the Sher-e-Bangla Nagar police station on Sunday evening, according to media reports.

Confirming the GD filing, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Sher-e-Bangla Nagar police station, Utpal Barua, said that Shakib was unable to pinpoint the exact location where he lost his mobile phone.

"However, he suspects that the phone may have been misplaced in the vicinity of Ganabhaban under Sher-e-Bangla Nagar police station," the OC added.

Earlier, Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader officially announced Shakib Al Hasan as the party's nominated candidate for Magura-1 constituency in a press conference. Soon after this, Shakib found out that he had lost his phone.

On November 18, Shakib collected nomination forms for Magura-1, 2 and Dhaka-10 seats.
