Police on Saturday arrested a man for raping a schoolgirl in Dhaka.
The arrestee is Md Babul, 48. He was arrested from a rented house in the capital’s Kalyanpur area.
Mirpur Model police station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md Mohsin confirmed the matter.
"Babul is a kabiraj (herbal medicine practitioner). The rape survivor is a seventh-grade student at a local school. She is his niece. The victim's mother lives outside the country, and his father is a trader,” the OC said.
The OC added: "Babul called his niece to his home, promising to meet her to her boyfriend. Later, he raped her. The girl got pregnant and hence her father filed a case. Babul was then arrested by the police."
