Adam Tamizi Haque, who has been under surveillance for the last two days, will be brought under standard legal procedure once the situation is favourable, Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) says.

Commander Khandaker Al Moin, director of legal and media wing of RAB, said this while responding to queries from journalists at a press conference organized at RAB Media Centre in Karwan Bazar in the capital on Saturday afternoon.

The RAB official said there are specific complaints and cases against Adam Tamizi. There is also a search warrant for his residence.

On Thursday, RAB officials conducted a raid at the residence of the managing director of Haque Group of Industries.

Moin clarified: "We went to his house based on specific complaint to bring him under the law, following all the rules. RAB officials, along with magistrates and doctors, were part of the team."

During the operation, it was reported that Adam Tamizi's fourth wife, a UK citizen, was present in the house. When the RAB team attempted to arrest him, he threatened suicide and even made an attempt to jump off the building, breaking a window.

Additionally, he threatened to harm his wife.

To prevent any untoward incidents, no arrests were made, but the RAB operation is ongoing.

The RAB official said: "If the situation becomes favorable, he will be brought under the law. We want to arrest him following the standard procedure. He is giving different statements at different times.”

Earlier, he called his factory workers and detained them in a covered van. Then he locked the main gate of the house, so that no one could get out. They even threatened to kill the workers if they went out.

“Later, when we went to his house, the workers left,” said the RAB official.

“During our operation, he blackmailed us using a British citizen and his wife. We have heard that the British national has already left the country,” he added further.

Adam Tamizi Haque returned to Bangladesh on Monday. He announced his arrival in a post on his verified Facebook page.

In September, he took to Facebook to announce that a state minister from Gazipur was attempting to seize his business, compelling him to return to Bangladesh from overseas to safeguard his enterprise.

He then conducted a series of Facebook Live sessions, during which he controversially burnt his passport and made disparaging remarks about women in leadership, the Awami League, and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.

In response to his actions, he was swiftly relieved of his party position, and the Dhaka City North Awami League suspended him.

They also declared their intent to investigate the motives behind his perplexing Facebook Live broadcasts.
