15 arsons reported in 37 hours across Bangladesh

  • Seven arson attacks in Dhaka city
  • One bus set on fire every six hours in Dhaka

At least fifteen arson attacks have been reported across Bangladesh from 6am on Wednesday till 7pm Thursday during the ongoing 48-hour blockade called by BNP.

A total of nine buses, four covered vans, and two trucks were burned during this period.

Of these, seven arson attacks were reported in Dhaka City Corporation areas - Hazaribagh, Tatibazar, Kakali, Mirpur, Dhanmondi, Baridhara, Matuail, three in Gazipur, one in Khagrachhari, one in Bogra, two in Barisal and Barguna, and one in Noakhali, said Talha Bin Jasim, station officer of Fire Service and Civil Defense's media cell.

The third blockade in two weeks, after one last week, started at 6am on Wednesday and will end at 6am on Friday.

According to fire service statistics, one vehicle is set on fire every three hours and one bus is set on fire every four hours across the country. 

Meanwhile, every six hours, one bus is set on fire in Dhaka City.
