Four people including a teenage boy and a newly-wed woman allegedly committed suicide in the capital friday while two others were killed in road accidents.
Law enforcers recovered the bullet-hit body of a 15-year-old school boy, Amir Shiam, from Ranking Street of Wari of the city around 2am and sent it to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH). He died around 2:30am, Pijush Kanti Ray, sub inspector (investigation) of Wari police station told the Dhaka Tribune.
Police also recovered a pistol, a bullet shell and a 26 page letter written by Shiam, said Pijush, adding that they were investigating into the incident as no valid papers of the pistol were found.
Son of Jahid Hossain and Mistu Begum, Shiam was a student of Class X at Mitali School in the area. Family sources said his father Jahid Hossain went abroad seven years ago and after that he and his mother started residing in their uncle’s house. Four years ago, his mother married an engineer, Mahbubur Rahman.
Since then, Shiam was found upset. He might have committed suicide, said family sources.
Mirpur police recovered the hanging body of Laizu Akter, 22, a garment worker, around 4:30am from Military slum of Kalyanpur area of the city. Hailing from Patuari of Bhola district, she got married to one Hasib four months ago.
Abul Khayer, sub-inspector of Mirpur police station, said the newly-married couple were not happy over their relation and often locked into clashes.
Meanwhile, police recovered hanging body of a drug addict Nazmul Hasan Runu, 39, from Wireless Gate of Mohakhali area around 7:30am.
Eighty-four-year-old Muhammad Ali committed suicide by hanging himself with a ceiling fan at his residence in Pepsi Goli of Motijheel area around 4am, said Mozzamel Haque, in-charge of DMCH police outpost.
Quoting son of the victim Yead Ali, police said he might wanted to get relief from old age complications including diabetics.
A 15-year-old boy was killed after after being run over by a train in the city’s Kamalapur area around 4:30am, said Railway Police of Kamalapur.
In another incident, street bagger Orimon Begum, 65, died after a passenger bus of Balaka Paribahan hit her in Maniknagar area of the capital around 12:30pm, said Hamida Begum, daughter of the victim.
An unnatural death case was filed with Mugda police station.
