A case was filed on Thursday night against 15 Jamaat-Shibir activists in connection with beating a blogger in Polashbari upazila of Gaibandha on August 10.
The mother of the victim, Tanmoy Ahmed, filed the case with Polashbari police station.
Tanmoy was also assistant general secretary of Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (Buet) unit of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL).
The accused were Limon Miah, Sakib Miah, Taherul Islam, Habibur Rahman, Mizan Mia, Atiqur Rahman, Mahin Mia, Abdur Razzak, Shishir Mia, Solaiman Ali, Shohag Mia, Limon, Sujan Mia, Moinul Islam and Aminul Islam.
According to the case statement, Tanmoy was on a visit to his village home at Jamalpur in the upazila on the occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr. When he, along with his five friends went to Polashbari Government College intersection on the night of August 10, nine masked men on three motorcycles swooped on them and beat the BCL activist, leaving him critically injured.
Later, he was admitted to the Rangpur Medical College Hospital.
