Police handed over the body of ATM Khalekuzzaman Kushal, 46, son of late actor ATM Shamsuzzaman, to his family members on Tuesday.
The body was recovered from Jayanti River in Muladi upazila of Barisal on Monday.
After an autopsy at Barisal Sher-E-Bangla Medical College Hospital (SBMCH) on Tuesday afternoon, it was handed over to the family in the afternoon.
In 2014, a trial court sentenced the younger son ATM Khalekuzzaman Kushal to life imprisonment in a case filed in connection with the murder of film actor ATM Shamsuzzaman's elder son Kamruzzaman Kabir in 2012.
Since then Kushal had no contact with anyone in the family.
He reportedly came out of jail recently, Jewel said.
He said that Kushal left the house around 10 days ago after talking to his mother about taking up a job in Khulna, but he did not return home after that.
Later, Kushal's body was recovered from Jayanti river under Muladi upazila of Barisal on Monday.
Jewel said that the family has yet to file any complaint.
Family will take legal action upon receiving the autopsy report, he added.
His body is being brought back to Dhaka and he will be buried next to his father and elder brother at Jurain graveyard.
Wahidul Islam, Superintendent of Barisal police, said that the family members are also in suspicion about recovering Kushal's body from Barisal as he left home to go to work in Khulna.
However, they have not filed any murder case or written complaint to the police yet.
Police filed an unnatural death case on Tuesday.
The cause of his death will be investigated. Further legal action must be taken if any inconsistency is found in the post-mortem report, Wahidul Islam added.
On the other hand, Dr Refaitul Islam, associate professor of forensic medicine department of SBMCH, who led the autopsy, said that as the body was semi-decomposed, no injury marks could be detected, but evidence has been collected for the viscera report.
The floating body, recovered by police, was identified as that of ATM Khalequzzaman Kushal on the basis of an identity card found in his pocket.
After contacting the Sutrapur police station, it was confirmed that the body was the actor Shamsuzzaman's son.
The body had been floating in the river for four to five days, according to police.
In 2014, Khalequzzaman was sentenced to life imprisonment for murdering his elder brother.
On March 13, 2012, the eldest son of Shamsuzzaman was stabbed to death by his youngest brother, ATM Khalequzzaman Kushol, then 33-years-old, at the family residence in Dhaka’s Sutrapur.
On June 25, 2012, police submitted a charge sheet and on October 31 of the same year, the court indicted Khalequzzaman.
ATM Shamsuzzman filed a case with Sutrapur police station following the murder. Shortly after the incident, police arrested Kushol from the house.
ATM Shamsuzzaman gave a deposition before the court against his own son on January 30, 2013.
