The deceased was identified as Nur Islam Mridha, 50, secretary of Mollikpur union unit Krishak League.
Mohammad Kamruzzaman, assistant police super (ASP) of Narail, said Nur Islam was hacked at his house allegedly by the members of Thakur group which was his rival group.
He was admitted to Narail Sadar Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.
Additional police have been deployed in the area to avoid any untoward incident, said the ASP.
A murder case was filed in this connection.
