2 detained at Dhaka airport for smuggling foreign currency

Members of Airport Armed Police Battalion (APBn) arrested two departing passengers at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in the city this morning on charge of attempting to smuggle Saudi riyals.
The arrested passengers are Jewel, 36 of Brahmanbaria district and Golam Rabbani, 46 of Cumilla district.
APBn Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) Mohammad Ziaul Haque confirmed the matter to BSS saying that the arrestees tried to go to Bahrain with Saudi riyals worth Tk1.40 crore.
Being informed, law enforcers nabbed them and later, Saudi riyals were recovered from their luggage, he added.
