Amir Hossain Kanchan, the assistant personal secretary (APS) of Awami League lawmaker Elias Uddin Mollah, was allegedly killed after abduction and torture over a political feud, according to his family members.
Kanchan, 45, died at Dhaka Medical College Hospital on Tuesday night after he was brought in by a passer-by, Shariful Islam. According to Sharif, Kanchan was pushed out of a speeding white microbus onto a road in the capital’s Motijheel area.
Abdul Mannan, the victim’s elder brother, told the Dhaka Tribune that Kanchan was previously a Jubo League joint-secretary from Pallabi.
Mannan said on the day of the incident, their mother, who had been staying at his residence since coming to the city a month ago, went to his younger brother’s house on Tuesday evening. But as Kanchan was not home at the time, his wife, Nasrin Akter, asked him to return home soon over the phone.
Mannan said they suspect that after the phone call, Kanchan was abducted and killed by his political rivals.
