A college student was stabbed to death at Chakrabarti bus station near Savar’s Ashulia yesterday while travelling by a bus.
The victim was identified as Sohel Rana, 17, a commerce group student of Savar Cantonment Public School and College, son of Ansar Ali, hailed from Zirani Tangubari of Ashulia area.
Officer-in-Charge of Ashulia police station Badrul Alam told the Dhaka Tribune that Rana was going to college by a Hanif Enterprise bus, adding that when the bus reached the Chakrabarti stoppage, an unidentified miscreant boarded on the bus and fled away after stabbing him.
Other passengers of the bus rushed Rana to Enam Medical College Hospital, where on duty doctor declared him dead, the OC informed.
Police sources said the killing might be a result of previous rivalry.
Saying that no one was arrested in this connection, the OC informed that a case has been filed with the Ashulia police station.
Meanwhile, classmates of Rana blocked the Savar-Aricha highway for about one hour hearing news of Rana’s death. They also vandalised some buses on the road.
The situation came under control when the cantonment authority assured the agitated students of justice in this regard.
