Customs Intelligence officials recovered 12 kilograms of gold at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka on Monday night.
Deputy Director of Customs Intelligence and Investigation Department Sanjida Khandkar said in a press briefing on Monday night that, on a tip off, the customs department conducted a special search inside a Bangladesh Biman Airplane around 8 pm, which arrived in Dhaka from Singapore.
During the operation, 12 bundles of gold were found hidden in a special way under two seats. The market value of the gold is around Tk8.4crore.
The seized good was deposited in customs warehouse in Dhaka Customs House, she added.
