Friends find Bangladeshi couple dead inside their California home

Update : 27 Apr 2016, 05:48 PM
Police began an investigation into the deaths of Golam and Shamima Rabbi after the couple was found dead inside their San Jose, California residence on Sunday by friends who came to check on them. They said the Rabbis had left Bangladesh many years ago, and since then had built a nice life for themselves in the United States. Golam was employed as an engineer, and his wife was an accountant. Both were described as humble, polite, and peaceful. "That is why it is so difficult to reconcile to the tragic, violent end to such simple, gentle souls," said Evergreen Islamic Center member Hasan Rahim. When the friends had not heard from the Rabbis for several days, they walked into the couple’s residence through an unlocked sliding glass door last Sunday. A source told local media ABC7 News off-camera they found a gruesome scene, with the bodies of the couple lying on the hardwood floor, and a message in ink that read: "Sorry, my first kill was clumsy." Members of Evergreen Islamic Center have been trying to make sense of the incident. The couple lived close to the mosque and were devoted members. "We are surprised that they are no longer with us, and especially going away in such a manner is something we just can't come to grips with," said Evergreen Islamic Center member Faisal Yazadi. The couple's sons, aged 17 and 21, were fortunately not at home during the murders, the friends of the Rabbis said. Police have said their parents were shot at least once, but they have no information yet on a suspect or motive. Anyone with information is urged to call local law enforcement.
