Two people including a policeman were arrested while lifting a car from its driver in Savar early Friday.
Of the two, one was named Hemayet of Detective Branch of police under Dhaka Metropolitan Police hailing from Ujirpur in Barisal district while the identity of the other could not be known immediately.
Police said a gang of four riding a microbus intercepted a private car at Salehpur on the Dhaka-Aricha Highway on its way to Savar from the capital at about 2am and forcefully took away the car from its driver.
As the car driver cried out for help, a patrol team of police rushed to the spot and opened fire on the gang, leaving the microbus driver injured.
Police later arrested the two members of the gang including the microbus driver.
Other member was found to be a DB nayek, Hemayet.
Their two other associates managed to get away with the car.
The injured driver was admitted to Savar Upazila Health Complex.
