Police have arrested a man in Gazipur pretending to be an assistant director of the National Security Intelligence (NSI).
Gazipur Metropolitan Police (GMP) members apprehended Shahin, 35, from Chandona Chowrasta area around 2:30pm on Thursday acting on a tip-off. A fake NID card and 10 SIM cards were seized from his possession.
GMP Detective Branch OC Emdadul Haque said the detainee had been falsely identifying himself as NSI assistant director Mahbub Hasan for the past few days.
Shahin had been swindling people out of money by promising to provide them with jobs at various government and non-government organizations, OC Emdadul said.
