A young man was stabbed to death in a clash between two groups over a past dispute in Bogra town.
The deceased Jobaer Hasan, 20, a local brick kiln worker, was allegedly killed over a dispute centring a love affair at Malgram Dakkhinpara on Sunday night, said Bogra Sadar Police Inspector Abul Kalam Azad.
According to police, Jobaer had an affair with a woman from his village and over this matter, he was in a conflict with his neighbour Sabbir Hossain, who also happened to like her.
The clash took a violent turn when Sabbir was abruptly ambushed and stabbed by Jobaer’s allies in front of the house of former UP member Badsha Miya around 9pm on Sunday. He was later rescued and admitted to Shahid Ziaur Rahman Medical College Hospital.
Soon after the incident, Sabbir’s allies, seeking revenge, tracked down Jobaer and stabbed him indiscriminately later that night at around 11pm.
He was rushed to the same hospital where he succumbed to his injuries at 12:30am.
Inspector Abul Kalam Azad said Sabbir was undergoing treatment at the hospital and Jobaer’s body was sent to its morgue.
Meanwhile, police have yet to arrest anyone over the incident, he added.
