Fatikchhari violence Probe body quizzes witnesses

A five-member probe body, formedby Deputy Commissioner, has quizzed the witnesses of April 11’s mayhem in Bhujpur area of Fatikchhari under the Chittagong district. People from all walks of life, including local public leaders and journalists, answered to the queries in the office of Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) on Saturday, reported Banglanews24. Later, the members of the committee visited Kazirhat area in the afternoon. One of the members of probe body UNO Anjana Khan said: “We have interviewed various witnesses about the attack.”

On April 11, Hefajat-e-Islam and Jamaat-Shibir leaders provoked local people to attack on a procession of local Awami League, calling them using the microphone of a mosque in Kazirhat area under Bhujpur of Fatikchari.  Three AL men were killed and hundreds others injured in the attack.

The probe body is comprised of UNO Anjana Khan Majlis, Additional Superintendent of Police (North) M Farid Uddin, Fatikchhari Municipality Mayor Ismail Hossain, Dr HM Ahsanul Haque and headed by additional district magistrate M Shahidul Alam.
